I was just looking at that scene on video tape. From what I can tell the
explosions are from a CD-Rom collection called Pyromania. Keep in mind
this is just a guess but from what it looks like... they took the image
sequences of real explosions and mapped them onto transparent edged
objects. They also added a few lens flares and lights and they had a
fantastic looking explosion. I would guess the realistic looking flames
are from the same company that makes the Pyromania CD-Rom. On that CD-Rom
they do not have fire sequences that long so either they looped the image
sequences in some way (if they did I would love to know how!) or they
special ordered longer sequences. Anyone want to confirm this?
